Short trip into Italy from Nice

We're thinking of skipping Paris this time around to spend more days in the south of France. What could we do with three days in Italy, leaving from the Nice area?

The Italian Riviera is lovely - Genova for the history; Camogli, Santa Margherita Ligure, Portofino, Cinque Terre and Portovenere for relaxing, enjoying the views and wonderful food.

No more replies needed, thanks--we decided to go to Paris after all, not wanting to travel around Italy with luggage in the car while sightseeing.

Wait, do I hear that you are going to Paris now? I was concerned enough going to Monaco with the uprise in Paris. I don't think Paris would be top of my list nowadays. Underhill, I have a Dexter in my family - does that sound familiar?

Underhill isn't my real name; so no Dexter relative!

As for not going to Paris, we're heading there in late October 2006 and I'm not worried. I've been in touch with our French friends, and they say events have been rather exaggerated by the news media.
