short notice tours in europe

has anyone seen a site where tour operators (not cruises, found crucon.com and vacationstogo.com) discount the last few spaces they haven't sold on their tours?
We're very flexible in Italy in October, and it seems that should be available.
Thanks

Well, do you understand what 'dynamic pricing' is? That is the business model that most airlines, hotels, tour operators, etc. use today to determine prices.

Simply put, prices are changed in real time to reflect demand and what the consumer is prepared to pay. What it means is that a price may be higher or lower on any given day and you have no way of predicting that.

The only sensible response you have to that is to decide what price you are willing to pay and if you see something for that price, book it. Trying to chase the lowest price is a waste of time, you'll never known if you will get it or not. The last space may go at a higher price as easily as at a lower price.

You might try travel zoo, but It might be harder with tours than with cruises because the cruise has empty cabins to fill. The tour may not have hotel rooms easily available or at cheaper prices.

Agree that tours are not necessarily lie cruises. Generally the tour companies reserve rooms far in advance - but if the rooms have not been sold at a certain point - 6 wks or 4 wks out or whatever - dpending on th company and itinerary - they release the rooms they have reserved back to the hotel.

So waiting too long may mean no space instead of lower prices.

I think you need to start shopping - and not buy what you like - and don't worry so much about getting a deal - maybe - or not.

Travelzoo offers ours to Italy every few weeks - sign up for their weekly 'top 20'. But otherwise tour discounts ar generally or early birds, not last minute bookings.
