I like Harrods-and I think London is a great place for shoppers because you could find so many different shops-there is a shop (and an atmosphere to shop) for everyone!

Look up the British Crafts store. I treasure the lovely small Welsh stone boxes I bought there, colored and decorated with floral designs on the top.

Coccinelle. I found this line when we were in Italy, but they have at least one store in London. I purchased a purse in italy and loved it so much that when we went to London I searched for and found the store there and bought another. I constantly get compliments on the bags! They also have shoes, but I resisted and kept with the purses.

Walkinaround - To each their own. Everyone has their own taste and style. And what is wrong with a "Bob & Sue Normal from Lansing" shopping at Harrods and wanting to buy a diamond-studded dog collar? Since when is the store exclusively for the rich? Everyone is welcome.

You have insulted the English and now the "normal" Americans. There are more important things to release your pent-up anger at.

By the way I liked Harrods. It had something for everyone.

Well, I know one American Pup of fine heritage and background who would be thrilled (not as much as his mama) if someone bought him a Diamond studded collar!! Why I bet his mama would even try to borrow it ((&)) LOL

Lush, that fabulous handmade cosmetics store, particularly the Covent Garden location. I second the votes for Liberty (amazing fabric, and divine handbags, if you're into that type of thing....) as well as Egg. I happen to be fond of Laura Ashley, as well. You can find some interesting things in there once in a while that don't look like everything else on the high street. Don't be put off by all the flowers. Also, I second Accessorize, too. They seem to have some good basics, and if you pick correctly, you won't see yourself coming and going all over London, if you know what I mean. The best part of shopping in London is bringing everything back home (if you live in the US) where nobody else has it! I think Harvey Nichols, Selfridges and Harrods are okay, but have been becoming rather pedestrian as of late. So, what's the point of spending a ton of money there when you can get twice as much at someplace like Karen Millan or Jigsaw? Covent Garden is great, and I love the Neal's Yard Cheese shop (though you'll have trouble putting that Stilton with cranberries in your carry on!) And, there's some really great one-off shops at the bottom of King's Road, towards Fulham. So much fun!

Oh how I miss <b>m_kingdom</b>! Always a ray of sunshine - does anyone else recall that business about wearing (or rather, not wearing) black "bandings"? Quite hillarious. That little spat up there with <b>walkinaround</b>, who btw hadn't quite settled on his current character by this time, is a little classic too.

On a related, but more serious note, how I really miss old <b>Ben Haines</b> too, a true gentleman and a scholar.
