Shops and services around Barcelona Cathedral
We've rented an apartment on Cocorullo (where it meets Portal de L'Angel - very near the Cathedral) - will be staying for 2 months so will need a grocery store (for the little we won't be buying at Boqueria!), possibly a hardware store, etc - any suggestions around that area would be appreciated - and restaurants suggestions are always welcome.

The area is filled with stores as it is a residential area as well as a tourist site. Have you taken a look at Maribel's Guide to Barcelona (http://maribelsgides.com)? She has a lot of useful information on the city that you should find very useful.
You should also take a look at the following web site,Guia Urbana de Barcelona:

There are plenty of shops, restaurants, and services in the area.
For restaurant recommendations, see my trip report:

Cuines Santa Caterina is very close to your location. Also try Commerc24 which is still in walking distance.

There is an El Corte Ingles department store right by the Placa Catalunya. It has a hardware department and a grocery store and deli. We bought apples, oranges, milk, cheese, cereal there. I don't know if that's close enough for you. We rented an apartment about 2-3 blocks away and used El Corte Ingles a lot for breakfast and snack food.

If you cross Via Laietana, the main road beside the cathedral square, you'll find the Santa Caterina market and at the side, two Supermarkets: Dia and Caparabo (they're to the right of it and at the side).
there's a good hardware store on calle Avinyó slightly right and down from the cathedral (crossing Calle Ferran) and a nice grocery store with fruit etc on the left.
Santa Caterina/Boqueria/Corte Ingles are all a little overpriced.
