Shopping Values in Rome
Ciao everyone!
Leaving for Rome on the 13th! Are there any especially good buys there? Someone told me leather is priced well. Any good shops I should not miss? Any info will be appreciated. Thanks. |
Best buy I saw was Lemoncello.

wine is an excellent value but that is just for drinking there. cashmere is cheap, shoes, clothing in general.

Fabulous linens at Sermonetta. Especially check out the fantastically coloured woven Jacquard tea towels (mine have now been converted to dinner napkins) for 8-10 Euro each.
Wine, olive oil products, confetti (almond candies), saffron and cheese... Leather, yes...but you know that. Ferragamo shoes, for example, are about 80% what you would pay back home in North America and much cheaper than in UK. |
I am leaving for Rome next week as well, Enjoy!
On Saturday, I was in a shoe store in Manhattan, trying on shoes for the trip. I struck up a conversation with a man sitting next to me, who lives primarily in Rome. He was buying multiple pairs of shoes to bring back. He said that the cobblestone streets are murder on his back, so he needs well padded sole shoes. He bought Mephisto, and Ecco for walking, and two pairs of brown Bruno Magli for dress. When I was surprised that he would buy shoes in NYC, he said that the US dollar is so weak, Magli's are cheaper here! I know Italian wine prices here in the states pretty well. Wines are much less expensive in Italy. So even with the weak dollar, wine should still be a good value. That will be my focus for shopping values |
Thanks all--Yow, well I guess I won't be spending much money on shopping then! Wine, wine and more wine! Thanks everyone, keep them coming for anyone else reading after this.
