Shopping suggestions for France or Italy?

We are going on a cruise to France & Italy - Does anyone have any unique shopping/souvenir suggestions?

This is a very vague question. Where in France and Italy are you going and what types of items are of interest to you?
Personally, while in Paris, I usually pick up a few of those grocery store shopping bags from the gourmet grocery store that's connected to Au Bon Marche department store in the 7th district, right at Sevres Babylone metro stop. The grocery store is on the side street to the left of the department store when facing it...right behind the department store. I think the grocery store is called Le Epicerie. My spelling could be off. The grocery bag is in my car.
I use the grocery bags when grocery shopping at home. They are very nice and of a vinyl-type of material and with strong handles. They have the store's name on the front. They don't cost much. I don't really buy souvenirs much anymore as I've been vacationing in Europe for over 3 decades so folks know not to expect anything when I return home. Happy Travels!

Thank you for the reply. We will be in Nice, Marseille, Rome, Naples, Malta & Livorno. I love the shopping bag idea - I am over the 'chachka' things, looking for more unique

You're welcome. The grocery bags work well since they are very easy to pack in a suitcase and are useful. I don't like to buy junk items that people aren't going to use. Happy Travels!

The small reusable bags that Monoprix sells are fabulous and very inexpensive...about a Euro apiece. They have become the most treasured souvenirs, of the inexpensive variety!
