Shopping near LeHavre
My friends will make a cruise stop for the day in LeHavre. The men are doing the D-Day tour of the Normandy landings. The wives don't want to make the long drive to Paris to shop.I've heard there's a really neat place to shop near LeHavre. Does anyone know where it is?

My impression of WWII was made much more real by visiting Normandy. I'd encourage you to accompany your guys to the sites. I don't think you'll regret it.

I will second Betsy's reply. I haven't been to Normandy but my friend and her husband visited it recently. She was really not interested in accompanying him but went anyway. She said that she learned more about WWII and was very moved by the experience. She was very glad that she decided to do the tour.

Hi,
As an addict of the WW2 Normandy sites I agree that a visit for you there with the guys would be great. However it is not everyones cup of tea. In Le Havre there are some good areas for shopping. I have found a site that shows some of them. http://www.ferrycrossings-uk.co.uk/s...ng-markets.htm Have alook there, I have been to Leclerc and it has a small mall attached as do many of the Hyper markets in France. You will usually need a 1€ coin for the trolleys. Realistically unless the guys are doing an organised tour they won't cover much in 1 day without transport. You don't say where you are from but if its Canada or USA you will certainly find the WW2 experience moving and humbling enabling you to forget about shopping just for a little while and be a better person for it I am sure. I was in Normandy Last week (again) and it never failes to trigger my imagination of the things that went on and the effects it had on so many young lives and families. Good Luck and enjoy Muck |
If you have a few wives, I would take a taxi or bus to Honfleur. For your one day stop in Le Havre, you'll have a great time having lunch and shopping.
Go to Honfleur and let the guys go to Normandy. ((b)) |
Wow Budman.......If I had a few wives I would be hiding in some of the concrete casemates hoping they couldn't find me...lol
