shopping in ukraine

We'll be going on a Dneiper River cruise in a few weeks and my daughter loves to shop. Is there anything special that Ukraine is noted for? Lace, tapestry, gems, rugs, pottery, etc.? Any suggestions will be much appreciated. Thanks.

There are some souvenir stalls next to St. Andrew's Church on Andriseky street that might interest your daughter. I would stay away from gems and carpets b/c of quality and price.

Nesting wooden dolls should still be cheap in the Ukraine. Some people I know brought back unusual string musical instruments. I bought a painting. Make sure the art you buy can be exported. Soviet era stamps are beautiful. Bring cash dollars and or euros.
