Shopping in Rome

Any recommendations for clothes shopping in Rome (late July)? In particular, I'm looking for a leather jacket (to replace the one I got in Florence a few years ago). I've got limited shopping time (a few hours one afternoon, and all day Saturday - public transport, on foot or by taxi only). In general, I'm interested in domestic labels (stores or designers) that you can't find elsewhere (otherwise I'd buy elsewhere - unless the price is really great in Rome). Price-wise I'm probably looking for "upscale mass-market" (American equivalent - Banana Republic, Ann Taylor) or designers' "diffusion" lines (i.e second or third tier lines).

The other type of shop I'm looking for is a place that sells old photographs or posters (e.g. late 19th or early-mid 20th century).

Thanks for the advice.

Go to Amazon and order Suzy Gershman's Born to Shop: Italy book ... she offers a lot of good advice in a humorous read. She gives detailed advice on her favorite stores and shopping neighborhoods. I found it fairly helpful on my last trip to Italy.

You're going at the right time for summer sales in Rome. Check out Sisley -- it's all over Rome ala the Gap here.

I thought it was Benetton here?

Oh I almost forgot about Sisley!! It was my favorite store in Italy! Much cuter clothes than the Gap ... very European chic. It is the parent company of Benetton ... but still a different selection of clothes. Don't miss it!
