Shopping in Paris- some favorite areas.

I was wondering what are some of your favorite shopping areas in Paris... I'm not really interested in Hermes/Louis Vuitton etc., but let's say a Banana Republic of Paris! Clothes, shoes, bags. I'm also not interested in Department stores. Thanks!

Shame about the department satores, you'd find all the Banana republic lookalikes you want! Anyway, if you change your mind, the best stores are Galeries Lafayette and Printemps on Boulevard Haussmann (metro: Havre Caumartin).

My recommendation as a native Parisian if you want trendy clothes is rue de Rennes and all the little streets nearby (off Bd St Germain, so shop till you drop and enjoy a well deserved aperitif thereafter at the Deux Magots), and rue des Francs Bourgeois in the Marais district. 2 great places to peruse.

I love Au Bon Marche, and the area surrounding it.

In the 16th, try avenue Victor Hugo (a little upscale) and rue de Passy (midscale). Great boutiques.

Try the stores Zara and Mango. I think they are Spanish, but have stores in Paris. Cool and trendy clothes at reasonable prices!!
