Shopping in Milan - ?Serravalle Designer outlet?
Will go to Milan for 5days, anyone visited this outlet? claims the largest outlet in Europe, is it worthwhile to check it out since getting there is somewhat not so flexible and a day will be spent on it. Meanwhile any other bargain hunters during May wk 21? hope to get comments. http://www.mcarthurglen.it/serravalle/about/concept.php
Furthermore, is it possible to get train tickets in Rome for Milan to Venice? Is it the same or much cheaper to get them online? then no hassle to queue up at train station. Appreciate your valuable replies. |
Yes I visited this outlet last week. It is quite a long distance from Milan--how do you plan to get there? (I believe they have a shuttle from Milan..)
|
yes, shuttle as per their website leaving early return around 5p.m. not too many choices. That's why is it really worth visiting? I've been to outlets in US, Japan etc. but never in Europe so really no clue.
I know the Serravalle has most famous brand names but are they just put junks there. Hope to hear more. |
I was not overwhelmed by that outlet. Yes, it is large, and yes, there are the usual Prada, Cavalli, Loro Piana, etc. I did not see Fendi or Hogan/Todd's, among others. Lots of sneaker/athletic shops and non-upscale stuff,, along with many high-end shops. Take a look at the Bric's shop for good leather bags at very reasonable prices. (They also have shops in Milan and at Malpensa)
The prices in Serravalle are most certainly better than in the US. But it is NOT as good as the large outlet in Medrisio, in Switzerland not far from Como. The Serravalle outlets are just like the large outlet malls in the US, with better stuff, of course. See if you can find a shuttle bus to take you to from Milan to the Mendrisio outlet...the prices are better there (or were when I was there last fall; check the exchange rate for Swiss francs) for those using dollars, and there is a better selection of upscale shops with all major brands represented. http://www.foxtown.ch/cometrovarci.p...ntro=mendrisio I also think you can find good stuff right in Milan--look for some thread here about outlets in the city of Milan--I know I posted info about a month ago with names and addresses..click on my name and look for the thread with that info.. I just returned last night and am still a little frazzled, so I apologize for not being as forthcoming with information as per my usual--please feel free to ask more questions and i can answer in more detail later today.. |
