Shopping in Greece

What should I buy in Greece? Are there in specific souvenir that I should pick up? Being from India, I am not really interested in buying leather. Maybe a piece of jewelery. Is there any other item that would be nice for the house which is Greek specific.

Where are you staying? In Athens, there's wonderful shopping in the Plaka and Kolonaki ( spelling?). I love jewelry, ( but not the incredibly expensive kind), and have found some really beautiful handmade pieces in both Athens and some of the islands, especially Hydra and Santorini.

You can also find gorgeous ceramic plates and bowls, vases, linens, and perfumes.

Greeks make some very nice jewelery so you should have plenty of excellent choices. Also some really nice glassware, some using an interesting glass-infusion method that produces some unique pieces. I know you said no leather, but they do know how to make good shoes.

Shouldn't have forgotten some beautiful carved olive wood - bowls, plates, flatware, serving pieces, carvings, etc.

We are staying at the Cypria in Athens and the Laude hotel in Oia. Names and addresses of any particular stores? I don't want to pick up Chinese imitation, and don't mind spending for good quality purchases.
Carved olive wood and perfumes sounds good..just need to know their authentic.

Between Lauda and the village square, across from the steps leading down to Armeni Bay, is a small antique jewelry store that's definitely worth your consideration.

I agree with all of the suggestions above. There is a lot of jewelry in both silver and gold. The olive wood items are very nice. I even have some bracelet made of olive wood beads. Jewelry or other items with the evil eye symbol are a good choice, too.

I have a goat bell on a leather strap and a cow bell on a wooden collar from an antique shop in Delphi hanging at my house. May not be everyone's taste.

Yes, beautiful jewelry--do you like the Greek Key design? It looks lovely as necklaces and bracelets, even rings. Any olive oil items are good--soaps, creams, etc. There is a thread on the great food to buy. If you search the threads, it was not that long ago.
