Shopping in Geneva
For, say, fashion clothing (BUT avoiding designer names, something like Swiss/Italian/French not-so recognizable names) or shoes?
Where? Store hours? Is it worth it (nothing special, too expensive, etc)? |
anyone?

The Swiss design firm Bally has put together some nice collections in the past year (they dumped their old design team and brought in a new design team from Italy). Very good quality leather goods (not made in China! the shoes are made in their factory outside Lugano) and they do limited clothing lines.
Their boutique in Geneva is at 18, rue du Marche. Every now and then, you can find nifty things at the budget Swiss chain, Vogele. They have (or used to) a store at 11, promenade de l'Europe. In skincare (in case you opt to check that out as well as fashion), Juvena is a top Swiss line. http://www.juvena.com/en/index.php www.bally.com For leisure/sport shoes, Kandahar is a name not well known outside of Switzerland, but the quality is outstanding. Their hand-made shoes (the factory is near Thun) will last you for years. I bought a pair of boots years ago that are still in top condition and keep my feet warm and dry in even the worst weather. I wear them to walk everywhere in the winter in Vienna. They're definitely practical rather than high style shoes and they're not cheap, but they are worth every Sfr. http://www.kandahar.ch/index.php?id=products&L=2 |
Thanks a lot. Time permiting (or weather demanding) I may do some shopping...
