Shopping in Florence
Am going to Florence sightseeing for the day. My husband not keen on the shopping part though. Will I need more than 1 day for shopping plus sightseeing.
|
what sightseeing were you planning on?
|
havent done my research yet but am open to suggestions

Try clicking at the top of this screen on Destinations--it will give you the basics and the most popular sights in Florence. Without some indication of what drew you to Florence in the first place, what your interests are, whether you want to go to 3 museums or none, it's very hard to advise either about sightseeing, or shopping.

Simple answer =---Yes- esp if you are a shopper with unlimited funds as Italy is a fortune now..
Do NOT miss Madova leather shops- they have the most gorgeous gloves in every color under the rainbow.. And do go to the outdoor flea market.. |
Just curious..the "outdoor flea market??" Do you mean the Cascine along the river on Tuesdays?? I was wondering what that was like..can you tell us?

If you want to see things like the Uffizi gallery or the Academia, try to book your tickets beforehand on an internet site that deals with them. Or else all your shopping time will be spent standing in line.
I shop in the markets, just past the Duomo to the right. |
Sorry, I meant up one street past the duomo and to the left. There are streets and streets of markets. Haggle.

What kind of shopping are you thinking of doing?
Personally, I could shop for days, but I'd rather spend that time sightseeing. I have managed to sneak in shopping while I've been sightseeing, and no one was the wiser. Good luck on your research. Not to be self-righteous, but check out a book on Florence with pictures to get a better idea of what sightseeing you and your husband would like to do. |
