Shopping for Silk in Lyon

I will be visiting Place Bellecour, Lyon. I was told Lyon is famous for silk. Any shop where I can go to for cheap silk clothing or scarves?

I have seen several silk stores near Texture Museum(about 15 minutes walk from Place Bellecour), but,I am afraid I don't know about their prices.

By the Hotel de Ville there are a couple of silk shops. L'Atelier de Soirie (33, rue Romarin, M-Sa 9-12 and 2-7 -- so says the listing in the book) is one, where they will demonstrate screen printing for you and they have a small shop upstairs FILLED with silk scarves and ties. You can also find scarves at Galleries Lafayette at the mall -- hand painted by an artist in Lyon. I've had success at both places.

"Cheap" is relative, however you can get a scarf for $35 at L'Atelier, the handpainted scarves run about $40. These are the FF converted prices, I'm guessing the Euro conversion is higher.

BTW, the Hotel de Ville is a 10-15 min walk from Place Bellecour, take rue du President Herriot.

Judy, do you mean the Museum of Fabric (Musee des Tissues)? It's next door to the Museum of Decorative Arts.
