Shoe/boot help for Munich and Berlin
We'll be in Munich and Berlin the first two weeks of January.
My question is about my 21 year old daughter's shoes. She has walking shoes that she's taken to Europe and put hundreds of miles on, that's the only pair of shoes she takes. But since we'll be there in the winter, I think she should have some kind of boots too. She's a vegetarian so finding a pair of non-leather but good walking boots isn't easy, we've looked at tons. She has a pair of Sorel snow boots (big and clunky), a pair of Bogs rain boots (not made for cold and possible snow) and she has two pair of dress ankle boots (not good for walking). Anyone have advice and brands we should check out? Thank You! |
See if she can find these locally (ort take advantage of the free return shipping policy): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...YCPT5324H4463S
She very likely won't be sloughing through snow so her rain boots coupled with warm socks (does she wear wool?) might be adequate. Last winter was very mild and indications seem to point to the same again for Germany. |
Wait till you get there. The stores have the most wonderful selection. I wear smartwool socks and they keep my feet warm. I have been to Germany in the winter and did trek through freshly fallen snow and where we go you do need boots but if in the city maybe not so much. I would wait though.

That's actually pretty solid advice.

Thanks for the ideas.
She does wear wool so I was planning on getting her Smart Wool socks. |
I agree with waiting until she gets there; just know the appropriate European size. I've been to both places "in Winter" and all it was was damp and overcast.
