Shoe Addict Needs Italian Fix
Please tell me where I should pick up cute and fashionable shoes in Rome, Tuscany and the Amalfi Coast.
|
At a shoe store! (sorry, couldn't resist).
|
You best bets are as follows, darling: Roma--Via Condotti and Via Borgognona (Piazza di Spagna area). Florence--Via Tornabuoni and Via Calzaiuoli. Amalfi Coast--Capri.
|
Personally I liked the 900 Euros plus men's shoes I found in a store on the Via Veneto (and then got them for a lot less, and brand new, on EBay after I came home.
|
Just an FYI, my husband wears a size 12.5 and the largest they carried in most stores was 10.5 (american sizes). I think that's 45 Italian. The salesment in Siena said the only store he knows of with large sizes is in Milan!

If you will be on Capri go to Canfora, in the main pizza, web site: www.canforacapri.com
I love mine( I have 6 pairs), the web site shows the entire collection. Fluffy |
If you are going any time soon, hit the outlets.
I got some YSL shoes - just awesome shoes BTW - and when I took them to the register, the salesperson told me they were only (sit down for this one) 30 Euros a pair. So, I got 200+ Euro shoes for 30 Euros. In fact, I will say it again - 30 Euros. Anyway, the outlets near Florence (Gucci, YSL, Fendi) have some great "promotions" going right now. The clothes are way to expensive imho. |
In Florence near the market area near Pza S. Maria Novella are many shoe stores less expensive than the one around the Duomo. In Sorrento in the market is one shoe store (you can't miss it because it has shoes outside then a big store inside. The BEST prices in a huge selection of styles, but hope they'll have yr size.
I was just there and due to vanity I did not pack tennis type shoes and had to buy Merrill athletic type shoes at a Nike store in Rome for 90Euros. Ouch! Do take sox and real shoes if you'll be walking 4-5+miles /day. You won't be sorry. I was! Also the dressy shoes are VERY POINTY! |
900 Euro for a pair of shoes? HOLY CRAP!
|
Irishdame: In case you didn't know, those shoes that sell for 900 Euro actually massage your feet while you're wearing them. You don't actually walk in them, they're voice controlled. You just put them on and speak in a clear voice where you would like to go. Similar to those new voice activated audio controls in cars.
