Shocking airfare prices to Europe!!!

If an Eastbound Transatlantic cruise is of interest, the July 21 7 day crossing on Cunard's QM2 from Brooklyn may work for your schedule. It arrives in Southampton early on July 28. An inside should be under $2000 for both of you.
I understand the dining and enrichment lectures are outstanding but there are two (optional) formal nights.
Of course, you still have to get back home!

It would seem that nobody here has flown Turkish. I have several times. Their Business Class is fine. Their domestic flights are OK as well. But . . . we did have an excruciating CPT > JNB > IST flight in cattle class on a reward ticket that was particularly cruel. Very cramped seating with truly surly staff. Everything was late and we spent 2 hours on the tarmac in JNB in a rainstorm. The connection desk at IST was closed when we arrived and somehow we got through immigration without boarding passes and that really upset the TA staff when we checked in for our last flight to YYZ. I added TA cattle class to my no-fly list after that.

I just booked Detroit-Barcelona through Amsterdam on Delta (and partners) for September. $1500 for main cabin, we usually pay that for Comfort+ but to book Comfort+ was another $1K each. Only one of the flights (the Trans-Atlantic one) has the Comfort+ option. We booked main cabin and the cost to upgrade to Comfort+ was $309 each. While the price isn't ideal or what I wanted to pay, we haven't been to Europe since covid but have still been saving for the past 3 years. I just hope that the costs come down before our next vacation next year. Our flight from Barcelona to Amsterdam on the way home is with Transavia, hopefully there are no problems.

We’ve gone to Greece in August for five years and the last two years it’s been a chore to find a good price. Between 2017 and 2020 we found flights between $650 and $800 but last year (2020)we couldn’t find anything less than 1100 so we flew into Naples and out of athens on are lingus for 800 pp. We got a cheap flight from Naples to Mykonos which made it doable but probably ended up spending the same money through transfers and ferries etc. But we got to see Naples which we fell in love with and this year we are doing a round trip to Naples for $700 pp on Aer Lingus and paying about $200 pp to fly back and forth from Naples to Greece. It took us five to find these fares and I’m a leetle worried about the flight from Naples to santorini but I got travel insurance ($192 for a family of four). I did look into flying Boston to Thessaloniki and at times there were fares for about 900 pp but the times were inconvenient and it didn’t include luggage. I looked at fares last week just for ”fun” and saw aer lingus had a fare for 899 pp from
Boston to Athens for around our dates. Oh well. I’m glad to go back to Naples, which I find to be the most affordable way to get to Europe lately.

Well, we’re booked and I’m not looking again because I don’t want to be upset if a better price comes up. We are flying NYC to Munich to Thessaloniki, both ways. Hotels all booked and I have months to relax now until August.
