elsiemoo, I mis-spoke about having Rick Steves book on Greece. I don't think he has written that one. We used Frommers and this Fodor website.

I agree that it's always nice to be able to speak a few phrases. I would also suggest you brush up on the Greek alphabet so that you can translate to some extent, even though most signs that tourists will encounter are also in Roman. The alphabet was the only Greek I knew but it did come in handy in translating some words.

If you're looking for a light read to get you in the mood for your trip, I recommend Nights of Rain and Stars by Maeve Binchy. It's set in Mykonos around the same area.

crckwc1, usually, if I have a Frommers guidebook for a place, I don't really need another anyway. I think that and all you helpful people on this Board will get us through! :)
