shipping medical supplies

We are going to be in the UK for 20 days this summer. I need to ship about 1000 pounds of medical supplies for my husband to use while there. These are fluids he uses for home dialysis. oth Fedex and UPS seem very expensive. Does anyone have a better idea?

I apologize if this seems impertinent: have you investigated purchasing it in the UK? Unless it truly must be shipped, some time communicating with the health sources where you are going would seem worth a try.

Sounds like this may involve peritoneal dialysis. You can indeed purchase the necessary supplies in the UK. Suggest you explore that option - e.g., see http://www.baxterhealthcare.co.uk/ - and start inquiries now to be sure you get done any required paperwork.

it's Home hemodialysis. I have spoken with NXstage, the company we deal with, and they said I cannot purchase in the UK. I emailed the UK partner company and they don't even respond!

I am going to find out if Baxter and NXstage dialysate are interchangable. Thanks for the idea!

Have you looked at this website?

www.globaldialysis.com/

It may contain information on getting your supplies in the U.K.
