Shipping Luggage
If I were stopping in Paris for several days and wanted to send some luggage back to the U.S. before heading on to South Africa, could anyone provide recommendations for a shipping company? Thanks.

The Post-Office. They have pre-stamped boxes in different sizes called "Colissimo International".

Assuming you mean clothing, souvenirs, guidebooks, and what-not, as opposed to a suitcase, Pvoyageuse has the perfect plan, and we've done that many, many times to lighten our luggage!

Thank you both. I was thinking a suitcase or two, with door to door service.

There are multiple companies that ship luggage, but it's quite expensive. I compiled a list several years ago on this thread.
http://www.fodors.com/community/euro...ing-a-trip.cfm It's possible some of these companies no longer exist. |
Thanks, kybourbon. Good list. Steve

FYI - The Italian train system has a link for DHL on their website for luggage transport between certain train stations. It says they transport to France/Austria/Germany also. They only give a DHL number to call, but you might check for a DHL website and the program is called EasyBag.

I went to London for 5 days and then safari for 11 days and only brought a carry-on. I'd go the PO route - every other way I've looked into is really expensive. If you pack a duffle you can fold it up and put everything in a shipping box. Or just donate the luggage. Isn't it time for a new piece anyway? There is a luggage storage at Johannesburg if you are going there. |
Thanks for all the helpful ideas! Best, Steve
