Shipping alcohol via US Military??

My son is a US Military man stationed in Germany. This summer he gets discharged and the Army will "move" him back to the States. Does anyone know if he is allowed to ship alcohol products home as part of his belongings. The Germans make awfully good white wine and even better beer. If he is allowed to ship a personal stash, I'll place my order now!
Thanks for your help.

Uh - isn't this something your son should be asking his admin unit??????

The answer is yes and no. He can ship a wine or beer collection via a commercial shipping service(not military). He must pay upfront for the costs. The military will reimburse him later for the expense. Luckily the military considers a wine collection a part of ones household goods.

And all household goods come in duty free regardless of contents, too.

Jack31 is correct, but I'm sure he would not be the first guy to stick a FEW bottles in his actual household goods shipment.

Thanks Jack31, for the info. I figured someone had faced this situation before and knew how to make it happen. "Yes" Janis, there is an administrative answer to every question...and then, there's THE answer that he's looking for.
