Shipped from Ste. Foy la Grande to NYC. The post office didn't know how long it would take. Has anyone had any experience with this? Box was about 30"x40"x14" and maybe 30lbs.

I don't know if this will help but here goes. I shipped a poster from my hotel in Amsterdam to my home in Florida. I addressed it and gave the front desk clerk 15 Euro to ship it to me. After about a month after returning home and not getting the package I had written it off. About 3 weeks after that, it arrived! It was beat to hell, all bent and tattered, but still in recoverable shape. The postage on it was only 6 Euro so the desk clerk got some pocket money but I was glad to get it back. It was a poster that I bought at a wonderful exhibit of Van Gogh and Gaugin paintings at the Van Gogh museum. Took it to an art shop who smoothed it out and framed it beautifully.

Hi Vetty, I shipped via the Italian Post Office about a 60lbs box a few years ago. I was not in a hurry for it. I shipped it from N. Italy in October and it arrived at my residence in N. CA around Feb. or March.

"Shipped"????????? as in by sea or did you actually mail it by the slowest method?? (Even the slowest method trans-Atlantic mail can often go by plane)

Does the shipping company have a website? Can you trace it by the number on your receipt?

We bought a hand-carved teak cocktail table in Chiang Rai, Thailand, and had it sent to our home in Arizona. When we bought it, the sales agent said it would be delivered in six weeks. We were notified by the freight forwarding agent when the ship arrived in Long Beach, shipped by truck to Phoenix, and we picked it up at a bonded warehouse and cleared customs documents. Elapsed time: exactly six weeks. By the way, if an article is handcrafted, it is considered a "work of art" by U.S. Customs and there is no duty charged.

Hmm, does the "work of art" exemption apply to hand blown Venetian glass I wonder? Anyone know?
