Seville's Metropol Parasol
 

Where in Seville is this new architectural wonder?? We thought we thoroughly explored this fabulous city over 4 days but somehow missed it. Stayed at the El Rey Morro in the old quarter. This needs to be added to the guidebooks ASAP!

We will be staying at El Rey Morro in May. It appears you really liked it. Any particular comments who can give me regarding the hotel? The room look very nice online (although we booked an economy room). How was the breakfast? Any restaurant recommendations=? Thanks.

The El Rey Morro was just wonderful; charming location. Our room was on second floor overlooking courtyard. Every room a bit different and staff so kind and helpful. Yes, I will respond w/ restaurant recommendations, there were two within a 5 minute walk that were fabulous and recommended to us by friends. Just have to find my box of Spain resources first! We were there in April for 3 nights and the breakfast was in a cute room off the main restaurant, I recall good if not memorable. Will respond by end of this week, I promise.

Thanks so much. We have reserved an economy room, but it still looks lovely. I've read several really good reviews of the hotel.

Floridagal2, here you go. Restaurants the four of us recommend highly:

*Vineria San Telmo
*San Marco

Vineria is along the ancient agua wall, charming seating outdoors. San Marco is Italian and located in an old Arab bathhouse. Varied menu, reasonable prices, wonderful portions, absolutely delicious. No more than 5 minute walk from El Rey Morro to either. Our first night we ate in a seafood restaurant Bandriri, but not great. The Alcazar, cathedral, wonderful.We did cross over to the Triana area then back to Place Espana (worthwhile), then up to Macarena area (don't bother).

I have to disagree with your assessment of the Macarena area ("don't bother").
It's a great neighborhood with lots of local character and a more real working class atmosphere then the touristy area of Santa Cruz. Perhaps it is a little intimidating to tourists as you won't find as much english spoken and it's not as "prettified" as the old town. But it has alot of charm.

Another recommendation for San Marco. We went there for our anniversary dinner. Great atmosphere and very good food. Order the appetizer to share as they are huge. Too much for one person.
