Seville Train Station - Luggage Storage?

My 75-year-old mom and I will be traveling to Spain in mid-October, visiting Madrid, Granada and Barcelona. When traveling by train between Madrid and Granada, we're planning a four hour layover in Seville so that we can quickly see the Cathedral while there. (The Alcazar unfortunately is closed on the Monday we will traveling.) In order to make this potentially crazy idea work, however, I'd like to make sure that our luggage will be secure and that we don't have to tote it around with us while in Seville. Can we check luggage on the RENFE train from Seville to Granada, and can we do it early? Or, alternatively, is there someplace in the Santa Justa train station that will store our luggage for a few hours?

Spanish stations have luggage lockers.
The station in Sevilla is not in the city centre, so you'll need to allow time to take a bus or a taxi from the station to the cathedral.

If you are allowing yourself four hours only then spend the money and take a TAXI to the cathedral. The place is massive but you can at least get an overview in a couple of hours.

I believe the Seville to Granada is not the kind of train you can check your luggage. Well, I am almost sure it won't even have a luggage compartment, but you'll have to take it with you by your seat.
I suppose there is a left-luggage (consigna de equipaje) with automatic lockers in Seville-Santa Justa station. For my experience in Madrid Atocha, have plenty coin change ready prepared (1 eur and 50c. 20c. coins).
It is not more than ten min. taxi drive to the Cathedral. Have in mind when you go back to the station that you'll have to pick your lauggage. It may seem obvious, but I had to run with my suitcase to pick the train last time!!

Thank you all for your responses. These are deeply appreciated. Yes, we had already planned to use taxi transport to and from the Cathedral, and we will opt to use lugguage lockers. Thanks again!
