Seville or Cordoba to Madrid airport

Can one take the high speed train directly to MAD form either Seville or Cordoba or would a bus or taxi be necessary from Madrid train station? Thanks.

I forgot to ask. Is there a Metro/subway terminal at main train station that goes to airport?

yes and yes
check renfe for high speed train, and the MAD subway system has a website as well--you will have to change trains. A taxi would be about 25 euro.

why don't you fly and make it easy on yourself? From the train station you must change metros and with bags I do not recommend it at all. Take a taxi or fly from Sevilla.

Thanks, I really do not like to fly. I do not understand why Spain built this high speed train then charges 4 times what you can fly for. I really love train travel and find it so much less stressful than air travel. Is the Spanish high speed train on par with TGV in France?

If you are flexible with your time you may be able to get a webfare or estrella fare closer to your date. keep checking.

Even at 4 times a flight, this train will never pay a portion of its expense.

The spanish AVE is a very similar technology to the TGV in France. The tickets (to ride) however are more expensive, unfortunately. As lindacasanova mentions, try getting estrella or web fares by purchasing ahead from the renfe website. The savings are significant.

The AVE from Sevilla/Cordoba arrives in Madrid at the Atocha station, which is rather central to the city, i.e. far from the airport. You will have to take taxi/shuttle/subway/... to the airport from this train station. By cab, I would estimate around 30 Euros if not travelling in rush hour.

scfphoto and any others,,

On the RENFE site - do not jump straight in with Timetables, but use Purchase to find out all ticket prices which may be available. Read - http://www.seat61.com/Europe-train-t...ways%20website which may be the most concise version of explanation on the web.

Best wishes.
