Seville - Must sees?

We are visiting Andalusia the end of October and we will have two days in Seville before our bike trip begins around the countryside. We already have tickets to take the sight-seeing bus tour around the city of Seville. What attractions should we also plan to see in the short time we are there? And, is it necessary to buy tickets ahead on-line?Thanks.

Check out Explore Sevilla (www.exploreseville.com). It's up to date and uou should find it useful in planning your time.

I've never taken the tour but I don't know if it's worth it. It's a compact city and you can walk all over Santa Cruz, to the Alacazar, the Cathedral and Giralda, and then to the bullring. If you have time you can even walk to Museo de Bellas Artes and Plaza Espana, not must sees but nice places.

At night plan a flamenco concert at Casa de Memoria- wonderful and authentic.

We took guided walks which were a great way to see the city. Also, taking a horse and carrage ride at night (45E) is well worth it. I don't know about bus tours. It doesns't seem they could get into the smaller streets of the old quarters. We found the travel books by Rick Steves our best information.

I agree, there is no way a bus can get into some of the "must see" areas. A walking tour (guided or self-guided) would have been better. You should have come to Fodor's first!

Anyway, Egbert hit the right highlights:
Walking all the narrow streets and passages in Santa Cruz (here's a good rest point: http://www.vineriasantelmo.com/ ), the Alacazar, the Cathedral/Giralda, and maybe the bullring if there is time left over.

In addition to all of the above, we found that Casa de Pilatos was worthy of a looksee...it, too, is walking distance from most anywhere mentioned above. The house is literally covered, top to bottom, with bougainvillea...photo op. Open to visitors.
