Seville

I'm doing a high school spanish project on the city of Seville. I need to know places that are essential to visit in Seville and surrounding it. If anyone has websites or suggestions they would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

A search on the internet using any of the search engines as a start point will certainly result in many, many great sites. If you are looking to suplement these with first-hand experiences, then I'll like to share the following list as "must do" while in Sevilla;

- La Giralda (an old Arab bell tower with a Christian crown)

- El Alcazar (a Mudejar/Arab palace)

- The Cathedral of Seville (third in size among all churches in the Christian world; burial site of Christopher Columbus).

- La Maestanza Bullring

- Parque de Maria Luisa (beautiful gardens, interesting pavillions; great meeting place)

- Barrio de Santa Cruz (old Jewish Quarter; favored by Seville's nobles in the 17th Century; beautifully preserved houses and streets).

Nearby is Italica, the birthplace of the Roman emperors Hadrian and Trajan. Italica also is the site of impressive Romam ruins (the site of one of the largest amphitheatres in the Roman Empire).

I have only suggested places I visited. If you also search this site you'll find countless recommendations on the topic.

You should include something about the history & current status of flamenco music & dancing in your visit, also historical visits giving perspective on it's Moorish (African-ruled) history.
