Seville

Hi Gingerm

No! One day is certainly not enough to
spend in Sevilla. We spent three days there and it wasn't enough! Sevilla is
absolutely charming and, with Granada,
is one of the few cities that met all my expectations of Spain. The other cities that we visited were wonderful for different reasons. But Sevilla just seemed to be the quintessence of Spain.

While you're there, I'd recommend that you see Parque Maria Luisa, the Alcazar, the Cathedral, the Barrio de Santa Cruz, and a river cruise. Even with three days there, there was much that I felt that I just skimmed the surface of.

Try to rework your itinerary to spend more time there. You'll be cheating yourself if you only spend 1 day there.

Have a great trip!
Kathleen

Ginger

I agree with everything that Kathleen said about Sevilla (and Granada).

My wife and I spent 3 days in Sevilla last November, and could have easily spent another 3 days without tiring of the vibrance of the city. Our only regret was that it was at the end of a 5 week jaunt in Europe and we left from Sevilla to travel back home to Australia.

My only additional suggestion to you is to explore the city on foot. You see so much more, especially in the Barrio's where cars simply can't go.

We are impatiently waiting for our next trip to Spain (2001 or 2002) which will definately include more time in Sevilla.

Indulge yourself and give yourself more time there.

David

I spent an entire summer in Sevilla as a student and 1 day is definitely NOT enough! Make sure you see the Barrio de Santa Cruz, the museums, the Alcazar (which is right next to Santa Cruz). Nearby are the Roman ruins of Italica which are really neat, and if you have time it is neat to wander through Triana to look at the artisan shops. There is also the bullring and the shop of John Fulton (only American matador in Spain). Sevilla is a GREAT place and I am anxiously awaiting my chance to return.
