Sevilla to Granada by Train or Bus- Construction works??

I've read on this forum that the train and bus are comparable between Seville and Granada - but I'm hoping someone can shed some light on the current construction works on the train line between Sevilla and Granada? It appears that trains between the two cities are still affected - and require a transfer to the bus? Anyone know?

If that is the case, I would imagine a bus would be better? I'm booking the trip for my parents (in their 60's), so I'm hoping to make the transit between cities as smooth as possible for them.

Any advice/news would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks-

yes, that's true that there is still construction, the Renfe website tells you that when you buy a ticket in the Info window.

I don't know about comparable in which way. I think the bus is better. They do take about the same time, but you can often get the bus ticket cheaper than the train, actually (sometimes 10 euro nonrefundable). So yes, I'd just book the bus myself in this case. Also, there are more schedule times for the bus.

The bus station is farther from the Alhambra than the train station, though, but if they take a taxi, doesn't matter that much, but it is about 10 km longer trip by car.

Thank you Christina! This helps so much - I'll book the bus for them! I wasn't sure if I was reading the info correctly or not on the site - and would hate for it to be more complicated for them than necessary.

While on the subject of transport, do you happen to know the best/most comfortable way for them to move from Granada to Nerja? Any recos?

Thanks again!

You can only get to Nerja from Granada by car or bus. There is no train. Same is true between Nerja and Malaga.

Busses in Spain are very comfortable (www.alsa.es/en). The cost of a ticket from Seville to Granada is currently 22,69€ (Normal) and 29,38€ (Supra Economy), one-way. The trip takes about 3 hours.
