SEVEN DIALS, COVENT GARDEN good area for flat rental?

Family of 4, daughters ages 16 & 11, traveling to London for one week in July. Trying to choose a flat rental but I'm having a difficult time committing to the location. I was in london many times but that was over 20 years ago. My family has never been. Willing to spend to get nice accommodations, but don't think that Mayfair or Knightsbridge are the atmosphere for us. We would most enjoy being in a neighborhood that feels somewhat village-like with access to pubs, restaurants and or neat shopping right out our door. my husband is likely to want to chill out in the flat after sightseeing, at which time I'd like to be able to venture out with my daughters in the immediate area even in the evening. Notting hill, primrose hill seem attractive but not central enough. Looked into bloomsbury also, but I'm leaning towards a flat in Covent Garden specifically on Shorts Garden in the Seven Dials. I don't remember that area from my visits back when, but it looks unique and interesting, especially Neals yard.. I do remember quite enjoying the market there and at 18 I really loved shopping the camden market and thought my 16 yr old would love it too (and we'd be close to camden and soho). I would so appreciate your thoughts and input on this area.

Have rented a flat in that area as well as stayed in the Covent Garden Hotel on numerous occasions. Easy to get to the Tube; great location for walking to theatres.

I like that area very much--edge of theater district (Donmar Warehouse is right there) and very close to Covent Garden. I've stayed at the Mountbatten Hotel on Monmouth St, also right at 7 Dials. Lots of little shops, I suppose over-priced but no more so than Notting Hill and many have affordable little things, one step up from Union Jack tees.

Excellent location - your whole family will love the neighborhood. I suggest you snap it up - July is right around the corner.
