Seven Days -- What Can't I Miss?
I'm currently planning a trip to England, Ireland and Scotland. The plan is to fly into London and rent a car.

I'm definitely interested in the Macallan distillery, Stonehenge, Lochness, Dublin (and the Guinness Brewery) in addition to favorite castles and cathedrals.

Does anyone have a suggested route that would allow me to see the best of both countryside and cities?

Thanks!

No way can you see England, Ireland and Scotland in seven days. You might want to consider one or at the most two area's. Perhaps a few days in and around Bath, York or London. I would not try either Ireland or Scotland this time around but rather, save those for another trip. Have fun.
Are you CRAZY??? Do you plan on getting out of the car and seeing all these places or just driving by to say you've been?

As Roger said -- pick one or two spots. Or do a week in one now and a week each in the others later.

Concentrating on breweries and distilleries while on a first time 1 week trip by car(!) seems a bit too much for me. A shorter more well planned trip would seem more appropriate.

Well, a week will leave you longing to come back. But, it is possible to see the main highlights of London and a little of Scotland. I suggest you leave out the car rental, it will take up too much of your time in travel. Contact a good tour company in London (suggest Evans Evans)and take 1-day Countryside Tour which involves Stonehenge, Salisbury & Bath, and also the 1-day London City Tour which involves Chg of Guard,Tower, Royal Albert Hall, etc. Then . . buy a round trip train ticket at Waterloo Station to Waverley Station (4-hrs one-way) and spend a couple of nights in Edinburgh - tour the Castle and be sure to Walk the Royal Mile. Edinburgh has an open-top double decker bus tour that's great! You won't see any distilleries, but you can buy a great 18 or 20-yr old bottle of Scotch to take home! I saw all this and much more in 8 days! Have Fun!!
