settling down in Paros

Hi there...

I am planning to relocate to Paros /Greece from Istanbul...and open a design shop...how long is the tourism season there?...how about the climate in Winter time? and is there any tourist in winter? is it worthy to start a new life there...I am 42 yr old woman...do I get bored there if I stay there 12 months?

hope to hearing from you soon,

thank you in advance

Hi minalba,

This isn't a trip report or travel question. Paros has a tourism season lasting from May through September. There aren't many tourists during winter, but the island has a large permanent population. Shops catering mainly to tourists usually close during winter, while shops providing goods and services to locals remain open. If you are on Facebook look for the Paros Life & Naxos Life Group. You can also find information on http://www.parosweb.com .

Also contact American ex-pat Michael Shepherd. He and his wife have lived there for many years. http://parosparadise.com

Michael and Karin have moved to Ireland.

I knew they spend winters there but didn't realize they were there permanently.

Lee, they still maintain contacts on Paros, but moved to Ireland in 2012. It's hard to keep up with them these days, but according to Michael's Facebook page they have now moved on from Ireland to Prague, Czech Republic, where they spent some winters when they were still on Paros.

Sounds like an interesting life. Thanks for the update.

Exchanged a few TA messages recently with Graham, aka GREEKADMIRER. Of course your name came up. It would have been fun to join the two of you on Antiparos.

Yes, after many emails, Graham and I at last met up on Antiparos last September. He and his wife are great fun, and have become Antiparos regulars.

Interesting that no one has raised the question of needing a visa to settle in Greece. Other threads, for other Schengen countries, have raised that need instantly.

ohh thank you soo much for your time to reply..I will take into consideration your suggestions...

for visa I need to prepare some document as a Greek lawyer suggested me..such as investment...buying land/property and etc...
