Suze, you must be in charge of fun at the local prison.
Do you think she cares about the about the laws tax governing business lunches in Slovenia? Do you?
Of course Suze, you ignored how many times I thanked people for their on point answers, but scolds tend to do read what they want to read. I think you need a pair of pliers for a strategic removal.

I may be wrong on this, but I don't foresee IMDonehere's sister and her friends taking luncheon upstairs at Quadri in the Piazza.
Split checks = pain in the neck. But if payment is made with cash, splitting the cost is simplified.
New question: can anyone recommend a reliable, inexpensive whip for flogging a dead horse?

I have passed along the suggestions regarding horses and ostriches.
My sister is not adventurous eater and although I have explained some of the differences between Italian-American cuisine and regional Italian cooking, it will not make an impression until consumed. We are of the category that we have not had a bad meal in Italy. We also warned her of the perils of eating gelati two, three times a day. That I hope they pay for with cash.

Wow, I was going to offer a suggestion on the original question, which was "the kitty" idea, as it works for us when I travel with my mom and two sisters, in Europe, however, this thread has taken on a life of its own and to tell you the truth, I'd like to thank you for my chuckle of the day. To IMDonhere: good luck with this...I have travelled all over Italy with three couples being family members, and even though we've ordered different items and definitly some had more wine then others, we were able to work it out at the end of each day. We called it "Tally Ho" time and poured ourselves a drink in honour of it! Vacation time is far too precious to squabble over a check or two. The good folks on Fodors have brought a lot of entertainment to my evening! Good luck and have a great va-kay!
