Sara - I agree with Ira and other's on this post, send the information in two separate e-mails. We have always done this and had no problems with intercepted numbers and employees at various hotels have been very understanding of our concerns. Have a great trip. Take Care Jackie

With everything so internet and website focused these days we overlook the obvious, as several posters touched on above...

Telephone still works just fine. So does mail service (I've sent a money order deposit via FedEx for example), it really isn't much of "a hassle" at all.

Sending your credit card number through the email is less risky than giving the card to someone at a restaurant who takes the card out of your site.

Ok, I just decided to call them! That worked fine and I felt safe about it. Asked to speak to the person I had been emailing with. Of course, I had to get up at 1 in the morning to do it... Oh well. It's done!
