Pembrokeshire Coast is cliff-top walking, interspersed with fairly short but steep descents into and ascents out of secluded coves and beaches. I find it endlessly fascinating.

I did some of it as part of a guided group, but others on my own, using local buses to get to and from sections of the walk. You could quite easily base yourself in St David's, and do about 4 days walking between Fishguard and Newgale Sands.

There are trains to Fishguard and Haverfordwest, and buses between the two that pass through St David's.

Do look up the website of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.

Sorry - but one just can't say "xyz area will be wet" - or dry, or cold, or warm, or windy (well, except for on the coasts you pretty much can count on breezy/windy)

Don't pick your location on the chance of good weather some 3 months in the future. Absolutely <u>impossible</u> to tell. So choose based on what sort of scenery you want, what sort of terrain you can manage, and the villages/towns along your route. Do NOT base it on the possibility of good/bad weather.

You are right. I won't base it on the weather but I was just curious as to what it might be like?

Anyway, what we are looking for in our hike (or should I say what I am looking for - Hubby just goes in the direction that I point him in - he is so cute - just like a little kid)

Interesting scenery, not continuous farmland or mountains (can be coast line with farms with hills - is that possible)

Small fascinating towns - not Cotswold crowded but places we can explore after a days hike oops I mean walk

Can we through in a Castle somewhere (if not that is OK)

Terrain can be hilly we like ups and downs but not like Mt. Everest
It doesn't matter if we see other hikers on the trail but that is always a fun part of the walk.

This is my wish list - OK since it is my wish list how about a few days of sunshine :)

So if its hiking err walking err rambling you are after, then I would go for the Lake District, or Pembrokeshire, or even Snowdonia (although its one of the wettest areas of Britain). The South West Coast also offers great walking and likely to be slightly drier. Cotswolds only if you want flat and no exertion.

The Northumbrian coast is pretty much beach and sand dune walking. If 6abc is fit enough to do the C2C, she's going to find the Northumbrian Coast pretty easy. Going inland to the Cheviot Hills/Northumberland National Park is another matter.
