Self-Catering in London
 

Hi everyone, I'll be in London for 4 weeks during the summer and I've been checking out self-catering flats. There's so many on the internet but it's hard rate them without
previous guests' opinions on the website. Word of mouth is probably the way to go - if anyone can suggest a good one ($400 weekly) it'll be a good start.

You want a flat for $400 USD per week? That may be difficult.

You are only talking about approx £210. I haven't seen a flat for that little in about 6 or 7 years (and I almost always rent flats when visiting London). Not saying they don't exist - but if so they are probably pretty bad or waaaaaaaay out of the center.

The cheapest stuidios I know of in decent areas will run £375 - £450 per week.

If you are willing to be far out of the city, then you might be able to find one - but then will have long commutes.

If your budget is really in the £30 per night range you would be better off looking into small B&Bs, some university halls, etc.

If you do find a flat nearer £300 per week ask about a discount because you are staying and extended period.

Oh - I was assuming you meant 400 US$. If you meant Cannadian or Australian - then your search will be even harder.

They have 3 price ranges and have accomodations all over London. We've used them on 2 trips and were very pleased!!! Good luck!!!

Yes, London Serviced Apartments is a fine agency -- but their "economy" flats (the cheapest range) run a LOT more than £200 per week. Most run more than £100 per night. Though they do have some that run in £375 to £400+ per week plus VAT on a four week minimum rental.

merrin: If you can swing nearer to £400, two you should check out are Chelsea Cloisters and Nell Gwynn House. Both are in good locations - though their least expensive studios are very small.

It may be possible to get student accommodation which has a single room, and shared kitchen facilities on the same floor. If not ensuite, you may be able to find something for 20 pounds per night. If ensuite, probably about 30 pounds per night.

We had a good experience renting the 2 Bedroom Deluxe, but their prices are still more than what you're hoping for.

I often use and recommend E&E - they have really good rates and I love the Pimlico area. But I didn't recommed them because I think their cheapest studios are over £400 per week.

merrin: Tell us more - are you in London for work or a course? If so, the company/school might be able to suggest reasonable accomodations.

This place is about the cheapest I have seen.
