I agree with polyglot about certain parts of the 5th district being Animal House-like. The suggestion of staying at Hotel de Lutece is a good one. I liked my 5th floor room there and the housekeeper and breakfast lady were really sweet. Nathalie and the night clerk are really nice too, but the day clerk isn't very approachable.

Do you by any chance remember the name of the nice hotel near Champs Elysee?
I totally understand why people would stay away from this location, but this my first trip to aris and I guess I have some sort of childhood dream about Champs Elysee...

Hi annv11, I know what you mean. But what the Champs Elysees is today is not how it is in the movies. I was pretty disappointed when we stayed in the area. You don't get a feeling of "Paris" at the Champs Elysees in my opinion. It's more like touist trap cafes and stores, nothing charming at all.
