The bus drops you off minutes away from the aqueduct!Stop by the fabulous tourist office next to it and pick up a detailed map. Then start the walk up to the cathedral and the castle.I always buy a round trip ticket and it's easy enough to change if I choose to leave earlier/later.You can get the bus at Principe Pio or Moncloa.
The train stops about 6kms outside of Segovia and then you have to take a bus to town to the aqueduct!

We took the train and then bussed in. If I recall it was because I was able to buy tickets ahead of time, which was my preference. Buses from train station run frequently and drop off just below the aqueduct. We went as a day trip and saw aqueduct, alcazar, catedral, had lunch and shopped a bit. Ready to go back to Madrid by late afternoon. enjoy! It is lovely.

Jose Marie gets better reviews but I thought the food was about the same. I actually liked Candido better because of the 2nd floor dining room's decor. And, it has the benefit of the view of the acquduct if you eat outside.

The sun doesn't set until just about 8pm in Oct, and I really want to see the town at night so I guess I will just plan on coming back to Madrid around 9pm. I'm sure we'll find plenty to do to keep us busy.

I did see that you can have a view of the aqueduct from Candido so that might make our choice easier.

Thanks again for all the great info!

That makes good sense to me! Check the opening and closing times for the various places you want to see so you can use your time efficiently. For example, without checking, I suspect that the cathedral will be open longer hours than any of the museums, etc. Enjoy!
