Seeking Venice Grand Canal View Hotel Room
First time to Venice and we'd love an upper floor (more quiet?) room with a view of the Grand Canal in a nicer hotel. Willing to pay $400 euro max per night in September. Any suggestions are most appreciated. Thank you!

"Nicer" hotels on the Grand Canal include the Gritti Palace, the Europa & Regina, the Monaco & Grand Canal, and, looking out on the Bacino di San Marco, the Danieli.
I'm not sure 400 Euros (not US $ 400)will get you an upper floor, Grand Canal view at any of them... There have also been mixed reviews of some of the hotels named. |
I agree with Eloise. I think you can find a 3 star hotel with a canal view (maybe not Grand Canal) for your budget or less. Room 201 at Hotel American is what you want. Read here

We've stayed at the Savoia y Jolanda three times, lagoon view rooms have spectacular views on the Bacino di San Marco. It's next door to the Danieli and a 4* so if the 5*'s noted earlier are not, this might be in your price range in September.
The Riva degli Schiavoni is busy during the day with tourists but lovely in early morning and late evening. It can be fun to watch the hustle and bustle during the day from your room. There is also some noise from all of the boat activity, vaporetto, ferries, etc. We enjoy this but some may find it obtrusive. The hotel has light/noise blinds that you can close at night. We've stayed at the Hotel American as well and would recommend that as well. Canal view rooms have lovely views of Rio San Vio. A very quiet neighborhood. The room we stayed in was rather small but nicely appointed. The recent renovation added the some floors from the building next door and some rooms are larger from comments I've read here. We would stay at either again. |
HI--altho we did not stay in one of the rooms w/the view, the Marconi has two lovely huge rooms that overlook the Grand Canal. It is a very nice hotel that many on this board have liked. The canal view rooms go quickly and far in advance, but it is worth a try....We were there in 2000 and would happily go back to the hotel.

cpugh, Palazzo Bembo might be what you're looking for.
Check the hotel's web site, as well as the reviews posted on Tripadvisor.com http://www.palazzobembo.com/Palazzo_Bembo-en.htm http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Rev...TEST58870.html |
Another possibility would be to stay at the Bauer but as with some of the others, and depending greatly on the season, the $400 might not be enough.

The San Cassiano has deluxe doubles with views of the Grand Canal available for 360 Euros in September http://sancassiano.hotelinvenice.com...en.htm?source=
