Seeking recommendations for bargain/budget French food in London

I'm wondering if anyone can recommend any bistros or brasseries in London that provide good-yet reasonably priced French cuisine. If you happen to know an address or tube station, I'd appreciate it if you could mention it in your reply. thanks.

Go to Mon Plaisir on Monmouth Street, especially pre-thatre.

BTW Criterion is a Marco Piere White restaurant in Piccadilly Circus next to Trocadero. Beautiful room and pricy meal. Pre-theatre is a relative bargain. My sixteen year old enjoyed it particularly.

Cafe Rouge has a few branches throughout the city, but one is on Frith street in Soho near several theaters and the Tottenham Court Road tube stop. Fairly inexpensive and pretty good. Another good one is L'Artiste Muscle, on Shepherd Street near Green Park tube station -- open late, wonderful food, pretty inexpensive.

Cafe Rouge is a reasonably priced restaurant chain that features dining in a bistro/brasserie atmosphere. There's one at 34 Wellington Street, Covent Garden, another at 27/31 Basil Street Knightsbridge, a third at Old Brompton Road South Kensington and yet another at 30 Clifton Road, Maida Vale

Cafe Flo is much better than Cafe Rouge, IMHO (similar prices) - there are lots of them throughout London.

Hi Chris, just got back fron London and found quite by accident, a really good IMO, French restaurant called Denise's Restaurant on 79 Southamton Row(in Bloomsbury). Great food , good service and nice ambiance....they even have a web site,,,,,we got their card we were so impressed....www.denises-restaurant.co.uk They were open Sundays and we were desparate,,,,had a good crowd and tried it,,,,,one of the best.....we also went to Cafe du Jardins very good pre-theater prices, but I think it could get a bit pricey for prime time eating....FYI...Judy

Just got back from London and really loved the cafe Flo! There are a few of them I went to one near Nottingham gate. It was just a few minutes walk. It became one of our favorites (went for breakfast (which was great) and then a big lunch which was great!

Andrew Edmonds is my favorite French Bistro (no chain - different menu every night - lots of charm - imaginative food - although smokey) dinner is about £20 a head plus wine. Reasonable prices for London and the quality is far better than any other French I've been to. Located on Lexington Street near Oxford Circus just around the corner from Carnaby Street.
