Seeking practical info for Bari after landing

Hi! My guy (60) and myself (F57) are flying into Bari mid July on a Monday about noon. We’re staying 3 nights in Polignano and I’m trying to get a sense of our options when we first land in Puglia for our first time, either press on directly to our accommodations and catch lunch nearby or go into Bari proper and have a walk around and lunch prior to catching a train to Polignano? We’ll each have a wheeled carry on piece of luggage and a backpack - nothing too crazy, but it’s going to be hot. We’ll need to store our luggage if we stay in Bari for lunch, I think. So, does anyone have any experience with traveling by public transit between Bari’s airport and Bari Centrale? Are there any suggestions for a spot to eat near the station or within a 1k or 2k? Any knowledge and information is welcomed! Grazie - Silvia

We've flown to Bari Airport and taken the airport bus, which drops you near the station. More info here https://www.bari-airport.com/bus.html. The train is an alternative. We were staying in the old town (Bari Vecchia) which is a ~ 1km/20 mins walk. We haven't used it but believe there is luggage storage here https://www.stowyourbags.com/en/shop...ntral-station/

if you want to gorge on Bari's famous focaccia, Magda and Focacciaro are not far from the station. For something more substantial, perhaps Da Michele (yep the Naples pizzerias outpost) just outside the old town.

You may leave the airport by train at 12.23, 12.40 or 13.25 and arrive at Bari Centrale railway station 20 min later. There is a left luggage office at the railway station. For the historic city center, walk down Via Sparano.
It's about 1km up to the historic city center which is worth visit.
Along this way, you will find a first restaurant (Frulez) at Piazza Umberto, just at he end of the small alley.
At the entry of the old town (after having crossed Corso Vittorio Emanuele), you will find the Antica Pizzeria da Michele on your right and 1 restaurant and anoher Puzzeria on your left.
Other restaurants are between the cathedral San Sabino and the famous Basilica San Nicola; the best of them is Osteria le Arpie (closes at 3pm already).
The archeological museum will be closed on Mondays.

If you head directly to Polignao a Mare (1-2 train changes), you will arrive there at 13.33. 14.03 or 14.33. 2pm wouldn't too late for lunch, but i don't know any restaurant close to the railway station.
