Seeking Paris hotel recs based on personal experience
 

Fodors Friends: I'm posting for friends visiting Paris for the first time (and on fairly short notice) and looking for a hotel close to major tourist attractions in the better two star and lower end three star price range. Larger rooms and an elevator would be big pluses for this couple. I can't recommend any places I've stayed because the rooms are too small.
Any assistance based on personal experience will be greatly appreciated!

I always book room 6 at the Danube on Rue Jacob, the room is quite large but I'm not sure if it is one of the air conditioned ones. It certainly is centrally located , with lots of shops , services and bistros nearby. Walking distane to D'Orsay, Louvre, Notre Dame, Luxembourgh Gardens Rodin, Champs de Mar, etc

In Paris, we always stay at the Hotel Bonaparte, 61 Rue Bonaparte in the 6th. From 138E dbl w/bkfst. It is just around the corner from Place St. Sulpice, near 3 metro stops and 4 bus routes. Has AC and an elevator.

The staff speaks English well, and is very helpful. The front desk is staffed 24/7

They can arrange a shuttle pickup to/from CDG for you.

Another vote for Hotel Bonaparte. I absolutely love the location! Got the recommendation from Ira, and I have stayed there 4 times and will return.

We absolutely LOVED the Hotel Bonaparte in 2008, though we felt the breakfasts were a little skimpy. It is wonderfully convenient. It felt so luxurious but was still reasonable.

Underhill, the Danube has added AC to some of the rooms when they renovated. It shows which ones on their website. We always travel in March, October and November so that is one less thing to worry about for us

Another vote for the Britannique. We had two rooms there. One was small, but the other was quite large. Very nice rooms, and they had a/c. Loved the location too.

There are two larger rooms--one with a view of Notre Dame--on the top floor of the Hotel College de France on Rue Thenard in the 5th.

We stayed at the Hotel du College de France a few weekends ago and enjoyed our visit very much - close to metro stations and within walking distance of a number of major attractions. Cost was 107 euros per night not including breakfast. The room was not huge but there was plenty of space to store our belongings. There was a ceiling fan in our room. The building also had a lift.

All reception staff were very friendly, helpful and welcoming. We'd definitely stay there again.
