Seeking Paris Hotel Near Shakespeare and Company Books
We'll be in Paris for a few days in February 2017 and want to stay near Shakespeare and Company. Looking for something cozy and romantic since it will be winter. We have a lead on an apartment on the Ile St. Louis, but are wondering what's close to our special destination. Many thanks all!

We stayed at the Hotel Henri IV, just across the street from Saint- Severin and a block from the Petit Pont (9-11 Rue Saint-Jacques), and liked it very much. We've been there twice. Our first room, a double, was at the front of the hotel on the top floor. It looked out over Saint-Severin and there was a view of the Eiffel Tower in the distance. Our second room was a triple with one big bed and a smaller bed in a sort of anteroom. I guess that would be suitable for someone travelling with a child.
It was clean, well-priced (in 2009) and the location was excellent.

Actually, I've had a change of heart since I've always wanted to stay here in the 6th:

This hotel has been prettied up a little since I last stayed there in 1983, but you probably can't get any closer to Shakespeare and Co. Especially good if you want to experience "la vie boheme". Ask for a room overlooking Notre Dame, most of them do.

The Esmeralda was always a real dump, even if it's fixed up a little, it is still a basic 2* hotel, that can't be what you had in mind if you are considering the Hotel Abbaye.
FYI being right near that bookstore is not actually a very desirable area IMO, it's kind of a zoo around there. The island would be better, though.
La Tour d'Argent restaurant is very nearby but it's very expensive (prix fixe lunch isn't really that bad comparatively).

MOre reasonable, try Laperouse in St Germain
