Seeking hotel advice

Hello! I will be travelling alone to Italy in September. Does anyone have any recommendations for budget friendly, centrally located hotels in Rome, Siena, Florence, Lucca and Milan? Also, where is the best place to stay in Cinque Terre? Any helpful advice is appreciated, thanks!

Topping for azure.

If you don't get the answers you need, you might repost this using the title "Hotel advice in Italy," or "Hotel advice in Rome, Siena, Florence, Lucca, and Milan." This will catch the eye of anyone who can help you. Good luck.

If you search above you will find tons of threads on budget hotels in Italy.

Also - try Venere.com.

Welcome to Fodor's! If you look at the top of your page, you'll see the "search this forum" option. Just type in (without the < > ) <rome hotel>, etc. and look at the column on the left for many posts from the archives. There is also a solo travel forum that you can find If you look at the top of the page on the left, where there's a "change forum" pull down menu. Check out www.slowtrav.com too, clicking on Italy.

Some solo travelers (myself included) find convents in Italy a good budget option, and there are lots of posts in the archives with good information. You don't even have to be Catholic!

If you're planning a September 2005 trip, book your lodging, especially convents ASAP, because September is a busy month in Italy.

Here's something about this site that confuses many newcomers: As other people post, your question, now at the top, will sink to the bottom of the page and then go to the second page. If you want to access this post and can't find it in the first 50, look way at the top of the page, to the right of the word "Welcome." Click on your name (in blue) to access all your posts.
