Seeking feedback on Florence hotels

Hi-
I am planning a trip for September 2008 and I am starting to investigate different hotels- most between 90E-150E for a double. Will be spending 2 nights and hoping to be located near Ponte Vecchio or Duomo area. Any thoughts or experience with these Florence hotels?

Hotel Accademia
Hotel Corte dei Medici
Tourist House Ghiberti
Palazzo Galetti
Hotel la Scaletta
Hotel Cristina
Hotel Cestelli
Hotel Perseo

Definitely open to other suggestions for our price range. Thanks for your help!!

Hey Annie,
Have you already tried TripAdvisor's website? I seem to recall seeing lots of feedback for Tourist House Ghiberti and Hotel Accademia. Undoubtedly there are also comments on the others on your list...

Best wishes and happy travels!

Oh and do check out Relais Cavalcanti...

I can highly recommend Tourist House Ghiberti, but, just to be clear, this isn't a hotel in the traditional sense. There isn't a real lobby, and they don't offer services like laundry (although I'm sure they could help you figure that out). There is a small outdoor terrace, jacuzzi and sauna.

There are only five rooms, but they are generous-sized with also generous-sized bathrooms. Comfortable beds, quiet, very helpful staff, free internet with computer in each room (a plus for us), flat screen TV, good reading lights (a rarity!). We thought the location was excellent, just a couple of blocks from the Duomo. There is a bus stop right outside the front door.

I have been to Firenze many times and have always stayed at Hotel Casci (five times so far). It is a small family-run hotel of about 25 rooms. It is not fancy by any means. But what it is :

1) immaculately clean, you can literally eat off the floors, they are constantly cleaning

2) about 2 blocks from the Duomo and half a block from Accademia (David)

3) price is in your range

4) amazing family and staff that run the hotel, nothing is too much for them and they will immediately give you a feeling of "coming home".

5) great buffet breakfast

6) free Wi-Fi in room or computer internet use for guests in lobby

7) check out the hundreds of great reviews on tripadvisor.com.

Ask me anything else if you need more info. Cannot recommend highly enough !!

Oh, here is their web site

Hi

I would recommend that you take a look at the tripadvisor.com homepage. There are lots of reviews there and I'm sure you will find useful info. I went to Florence last summer and you can check out my trip report with pictures on my homepage http://gardkarlsen.com/florence_italy_travelogue.htm :d
