Seeing Tuscany

Hi Everyone,

I am headed to Italy next month and will be based in Florence for a few days. I'll be traveling by train for the most part but while I am in Florence I really would like to see some of the Tuscany countryside. However, I won't have a car. I am traveling with a friend who would like to visit at least one winery (doesn't have to be a famous one). I would like to explore and just see the area. Is there a way to do this without a car? I don't mind a tour but I would prefer a small group of 10 or less, and I'd like more of a local flavor. I have no idea if this even exists but I thought I would ask. Thanks for any suggestions!

BDKR has given you a good head start, but why not visit the official tourist office website of Firenze to get loads of useful information.

Depending on your budget, you could hire a driver for the day to take you wherever you'd like to go.

Hills and Roads offers both custom and "joinable tours."

(The H&R website is missing some info and might give the impression of a less-than-efficient operation, but the company has been around for a long time and gets great reviews.)
