Am sure freemasons were active in Prague -just like everywhere else. No one is taking tours about freemasonry anywhere - this is simply not one of the topics in which most tourists are interested.

As for ghosts and witches and hauntings - now you've lost me completely. The next thing will be someone doing a tour on how many angels can dance on the head of a pin.

Agree that a study of xenophobia would have a lot more substance-although I'm not sure how much work has already been done in that area and where you would be jumping off from.

Why would secret societies in Prague not be an interesting topic? I think it has merit. I assume it does have to do with freemasonry, but since this is - worldwide - such an active movement, I am convinced there would be interest in it. And maybe there are other societies. I for one would be happy to learn about them, not being an expert on Prague.

As for the idea that no-one is taking freemasonry tours - well, why not think of this as an original initiative?

Well, one of the things I was thinking of when reading the original post was the language societies (Sprachgesellschaften) in 17th century Germany - they had a few Bohemian (i.e. Czech) members, but I doubt that they are the secret societies the OP was talking about. I would not think they are that widely known about in Germany even, unless you have studied Germanistik at university. But they count as secret societies to the extent that members addressed each other by a society name, and membership lists revealing the true names of members were not published in some cases until the 18th century, when they were mostly a spent force. They are not related to the Freemasons, they came and went before that time. And I don't know that they would have left many architectural symbols, I think they just weren't into that sort of thing.

Apparently I got the name and URL of the latter society wrong. It should be the Society of the Psilocrosse with their URL being http://psilocrosse.clanteam.com . This particular website is for a Canadian society but perhaps they would be aware of something in the Czech Republic.
