Secre Hotels Provence - Budget Travel
I don't know if someone has already mentioned the Budget Travel magazine article or not, but there is a nice 9 page article with lots of photos, descriptions and web addresses regarding Charming Provence for $75 a night. This is in the August 2004 issue, page 67, or it can most likely be accessed on-line. This is a catch 22: great information - but I hate to let the secrets out and then watch the prices rise :)

Isn't it nice to see the typos only AFTER you post? The title should be Secret hotels, not Secre !! Sorry!

I wish this site had, as the bonjourparis.com site does, a way of editing a post AFTER it's up.

Margie,
I bought a copy of the Budget Travel just because of that feature. It's amazing that even with the weak dollar, Provence still offers some of the best travel bargains. JoeG |
Margie, which places are mentioned? I have the Michelin: Charming places to stay, 1 000 hotels and guesthouses in France for less than €80.

cigalechanta, there's Le Mas du Loriot (Murs), Le Begude Saint-Pierre (Vers-Pont-du-Gard), Hotel de General d'Entraigues (Uzes), Le Cradran Solarie (Graveson), Hotel de Amphitheatre (Arles), Hotel de l'Amphitheatre (Nimes), Hotel de l'Atelier (Villeneuve-Avignon), L'Hotel Sous les Figuiers (St. Remy), Les Geraniums (Le Barroux), Hostellerie l'Oustaloun (Maussane les Alpilles), Hotel Cardinal (Aix), and Auberge de Presbytere (Saignon). I recognize the names of several from the experiences of fellow Fodorites, but maybe some of the others will be new information.

thank you, Margie. We have been to the Les Geraniums (great view from the dining terrace), Les Presbyteres in one of our favorite village where you dine across from the lavoir beside the village fountain, and our favorite for charm and food, near the Pont du gard, is the Begude St-Pierre. I framed a poster they gave me announcing an art exhibit there.
