we are planning a 6 day trip tot devon and cornwall. Could someone please recommend some special & secluded places to stay. It may be either a hotel, B&B, cottage....

We have always been happy with http://www.english-country-cottages.co.uk/

They have lots of properies in Devon and Cornwall.
A nice feature of the site is the virtual tour. You can actually see details of the cottages inside and out.

Hi!!!!
Check out Premier Cottages...the website is
http://www.premiercottages.co.uk/
It's all property owner run, so there are no agent fees to pay! We have been using this group for years and have never been let down! Stayed at Treworgey Cottages near Looe in Cornwall this past October! GREAT location! Check out the cottage website which you can find on the Premier site!!!!

We booked a nice cottage for our upcoming September trip through Helpful Holidays (<b>www.helpfulholidays.com</b>). We rented cottage B7. :)

I'll second the motion for helpfulholidays.com. They're a family owned company with many wonderful places in the West Country. We've never been disappointed with this business.

the national trust (like the national park service, if you are not aware) owns properties in some of the most amazing areas of the country. they are mostly very historic buildings in areas where commercial inns, homes, hotels, etc would never be allowed to be built. many are available for rent. they have a very good range of sizes and luxury levels at different prices...they are a great value. their colour catalog is well worth a read and perhaps there is some info at:

St. Aubyn's Guesthouse in Looe, Cornwall is secluded on the edge of the bay. It's 5star and the rooms are lovely especially if you book a room with a water view and balcony. The hosts are pleasant, and the location is quiet yet close to town.

For really unusual places look no further than the Landmark Trust. www.landmarktrust.org.uk. All their properties are very unusual, such as Crownhill Fort and Kingswear Castle (built in 1502, right on the water near Dartmouth, sleeps 6).
